Inspired by Josef Albers’ series of 1962 works, Homage to the Square—works in MoMA’s collection—the face of this watch interprets the works with laser-cut stacked layers of color, adding dimension to this iconic color study.

A director of the Bauhaus from 1926 to 1927, Albers was the first living artist to be given a show at MoMA: The Graphic Construction of Josef Albers (1969–1970). He is perhaps best known for the Homage to the Square paintings and prints, which Albers started in 1950 when he was 62 years old.

These colors make a beautiful, bold statement on the face of this watch. This is one of our first releases with The Albers Foundation, who carry on the ideas and legacy of Josef and Anni.

Lovely watch, a bit hard to adjust.

This blue ray came exactly as described and within 5 days in US during severe winter weather. I love it, my only issue is that the watch was very hard to adjust and put on initially. I am familiar with putting on several types of watches but had to watch 2 tutorials and work for 25 minutes to tighten slightly. Overall a wonderful watch!

Love this watch…and so does everyone else!

I wear this watch ALL of the time, and ALWAYS get compliments on it. It’s super comfortable and also very much a statement piece. I love the silicone band- easy to clean, comfortable, eye-catching. And I love that it comes with an additional band so you can switch out to match outfits, etc. I highly recommend Project Watches- fun, fashionable, and tells great time!

    Reveal green

I love my Reveal Green watch. People notice it and ask about it. I can only read the time with my glasses on but that is OK. My only wish concern is the thin band.

Josef & Anni Albers

About the Creator

Josef & Anni Albers

Anni and Josef Albers were pioneering 20th-century artists whose work, writing, and teaching demonstrably transformed the way that people see color and the processes of making art.

The Albers were key contributors to the Bauhaus Movement, as some of the first students to join the School of Bauhaus in 1920, and continued to teach there until 1933.

In 1933, when the Bauhaus faculty, Josef among them, elected to close the school rather than comply with the Third Reich, the Alberses were left without jobs and with complete uncertainty about the future, especially because they already realized the significance of Anni being Jewish in the Nazi era.

The pair then moved to America, and began teaching at the experimental Black Mountain College in North Carolina. They remained here for 16 years before moving to NYC, where Anni became the first woman and the first textile artist to have a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art.

In 1950, Josef was appointed Head of the newly formed Design Department at Yale University, and the couple moved to New Haven, Connecticut.

The Albers' and their ideas live on through the efforts of the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, and their work continues to be featured in countless museums and institutions all over the world.
