“Visibility and image for the Art Center were achieved with a hexagonal, glass-enclosed entry pavilion. The pavilion faces the Vassar entrance from a new courtyard that we created with an open colonnade designed as a modern, freestanding extension of the existing buttresses on the existing buildings. The design of the wristwatch face was an elaboration of these forms that, for me and the Vassar Art Center, have acquired an iconic value.”
